The neck measurement should be taken around the lower part of your dog’s neck, simply measure the widest part at the base of the neck as this is where the collar is going to sit. This size chart is based on min-max measurements.

Built for strength, security and everyday control, the BullyBillows 5cm Combat® Collar features a secure 6mm stainless steel D-ring, our signature-rated Combat clip and a double-stitched emergency handle for added control when you need it most.

Our Combat clip has been pressure-tested for dependable performance during everyday use. For added security, the clip can only be opened by pressing both levers simultaneously, helping to prevent accidental release.

The double-stitched handle provides an additional point of control, making it ideal for situations where you need to quickly gain a closer hold of your dog.

The collar is lined with soft Neoprene, which is odourless, water-resistant and gentle on your dog's fur. Combined with the durable nylon construction, it is suitable for everyday use across all breeds, from Staffies to Rottweilers.

We were recommended your brand by Shirebears Newfoundlands after we got our newfie pup. Having had Newfies before we struggled to find a strong, well made and durable collar that was big and sturdy enough for her. The collar is so well made, it’s strong but not clumpy. It fits perfectly and is comfortable and light. The fasten is strong but not heavy. We love the handle attached to it, it makes it easy to hold her back or get a better grasp whilst fitting her harness for walks. We originally had the smaller width collar but when Calypso pulled I didn’t want it to dig in. The 5cm collar is so much better and she definitely doesn’t pull as hard. The bubblegum pink is a definite ice breaker too and she gets a lot of attention wherever she goes.

FAQs

What is the best dog collar?

The best dog collar really depends on the breed, size and activity level of your dog. Slip-on collars are great to assist training your dog that pulls, whereas a Combat collar is perfect for everyday use and comes in various thicknesses, from 2.5cm for smaller breeds to 5cm for XL breeds. Our pin buckle collars are also a great choice among medium to XL dog owners, and the Billowthane collar range is 100% waterproof, ideal for pooches who love water! How tight should a dog collar be?

Similar to harnesses, a dog collar should be snug but not too tight. We’d recommend being able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck - if you can fit more than two fingers, the collar may be too loose and could slip off. If you can’t fit two fingers, it might be too tight for your dog causing discomfort and potentially breathing difficulties.

Do dogs have to wear collars?

It’s a legal requirement for dogs to wear collars with ID tags when in public. The tag needs to display your name and address to help reunite you and your dog if they ever get lost. We know that a lot of owners prefer using harnesses, but a collar and ID tag are essential to comply with UK law when you’re out in public, so make sure you’ve got both on if needs be.

How do you measure a dog collar?

To measure a dog collar, wrap a flexible measuring tape around the base (the lower sections) of your dog’s neck whilst leaving enough room to fit two fingers in between. A lot of collars are adjustable, which is ideal for a puppy as you can simply extend the collar as they grow into it.
