Fun Fact:

Did you know a group of Pugs is officially called a 'grumble'? We can't think of a more accurate collective noun for a breed that sounds permanently unimpressed with everything and yet somehow wins over absolutely everyone they meet.

FAQs

Why should I use a harness instead of a collar for my Pug?

Pugs are brachycephalic - their flat faces and compressed airways mean any pressure on the throat during exercise can restrict breathing. A harness keeps all lead pressure off the neck and is much safer for your Pug on daily walks.

What size harness does a Pug need?

Most Pugs need a Small or Medium depending on their build - they're compact but barrel-chested. Always measure chest girth and neck circumference and check our size guide calculator for the best fit.

Can Pugs overheat on walks?

Yes - this is a real concern with brachycephalic breeds. Keep your walks shorter in warm weather, avoid the hottest parts of the day, and always attach to a harness rather than a collar to avoid any additional restriction to their airway.

Do Pugs pull on the lead?

They can be surprisingly determined for their size - particularly when food is involved. A front-clip harness helps, and keeping walks engaging and reward-based makes a big difference.

What collar is best for a Pug?

A lightweight collar with a smooth lining is perfect for for ID tags.
