Your English Bulldog has a neck that would make a rugby prop jealous - short, thick and powerful, which means collar fit is everything. Too loose and it shifts around; too tight and they're uncomfortable all day. Getting it right is worth the extra minute it takes.

For this breed, look for a wider collar that sits comfortably without pressing on their throat. Smooth inner lining is a must - Bulldogs have sensitive skin and short coats, and any rough edges will cause irritation quickly. Lightweight hardware keeps things proportional for a breed that's already carrying plenty of themselves.

We'd always recommend attaching the lead to a harness rather than the collar for walks - but a well-fitted collar for ID tags, worn comfortably all day, is absolutely fine. Our collars are made to sit well and stay comfortable - even on the most magnificently stubborn of necks.

Walking your English Bulldog requires patience, a sense of humour, and a lead that can handle the full range of Bulldog behaviour - from the enthusiastic waddle to the complete and total refusal to move another step.

For everyday walks, keep things light and proportional. Your Bulldog isn't going to be sprinting anywhere, so heavy hardware and thick webbing are unnecessary. A comfortable handle and a secure clip are all you really need - plus the knowledge that you can hold your ground gently when the stubbornness kicks in.
