The neck measurement should be taken around the lower part of your dog’s neck, simply measure the widest part at the base of the neck as this is where the collar is going to sit. This size chart is based on min-max measurements.

This 4cm width collar is suitable for medium-large breeds such as Frenchies, Staffies, Spaniels, German Shepherds, Huskies and upwards. If your dog is smaller or larger than these breeds, please see our 2.5cm and our 5cm collar versions.

Product description

This BullyBillows Combat® Collar is 4cm wide and features a secure 6 mm stainless steel D-ring and our signature-rated combat clip, which allows for quick release and locking.

Our Combat clips have been tested to give you peace of mind during your walks, that your dog is safe and secure. For added security, the clip can only be opened by pressing both levers simultaneously.

The collar is lined with neoprene, which is odourless, water-resistant, and gentle on your dog's fur, making it suitable for daily use with any breed, such as Staffies to Rottweilers.

This collar is also favoured by professional dog handlers, as well as police and military personnel due to the above reasons as well as being easily adjustable; simply thread the nylon through the metal adjuster to change the sizing.

In summary, this strong collar features pressure testing, a secure clip and comfort for your dog's neck. It truly delivers on all aspects.

This is actually the first collar my dog has been willing to wear and he sulks when we take it off him😂will definitely be buying more. The sizing on the site is perfect I regret going off some reviews on sizing instead of going off what the website says as I sized down because a lot of reviews said they are to big when the size chart on the website is actually perfect and he would of got longer out of his collar but I’m glad I now know for our next order

Great collar, seems to be a bit on the heavy side but I did not realise you did a lightweight one!! I would have got that otherwise. Should also have got a smaller one, ie not as deep as my boy only has a small neck. On the really positive side, he's far more comfortable in that he is not scratching, his other collar irritated him terribly. Like the colour and may be I will get the lightweight one for him for Christmas :)

Love the quality! Seems like it will last long time, the only thing is, it seems a bit too heavy as i have a vizsla and they’re very skinny compared to other big breeds but it’s great for walks only not for everyday wearing but that’s completely fine as she’s only 7 months old and will still get bigger. Love that now i have it on the smallest setting and as she grows it can be expanded quite a lot so I’m not worried at all that i will ha e to buy another one

As described, wanted that little bit of security not only for her lead but incase dogs bite her neck whilst we’re out on a walk. (Yes it happened once )! Stitching is flawless, buckle clicks shut and the inner is soft neoprene which is kinder to her skin. No metals touch her skin which can be an issue for some breeds, so comfort was thought during designing this. Time will tell how good the paint on the clasp is, as a previous person mentioned it flaked off but so far really happy with not just the colour (which matches her lower coat colour being a GSD) but the quality of workmanship.

FAQs

What is the best dog collar?

The best dog collar really depends on the breed, size and activity level of your dog. Slip-on collars are great to assist training your dog that pulls, whereas a Combat collar is perfect for everyday use and comes in various thicknesses, from 2.5cm for smaller breeds to 5cm for XL breeds. Our pin buckle collars are also a great choice among medium to XL dog owners, and the Billowthane collar range is 100% waterproof, ideal for pooches who love water! How tight should a dog collar be?

Similar to harnesses, a dog collar should be snug but not too tight. We’d recommend being able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck - if you can fit more than two fingers, the collar may be too loose and could slip off. If you can’t fit two fingers, it might be too tight for your dog causing discomfort and potentially breathing difficulties.

Do dogs have to wear collars?

It’s a legal requirement for dogs to wear collars with ID tags when in public. The tag needs to display your name and address to help reunite you and your dog if they ever get lost. We know that a lot of owners prefer using harnesses, but a collar and ID tag are essential to comply with UK law when you’re out in public, so make sure you’ve got both on if needs be.

How do you measure a dog collar?

To measure a dog collar, wrap a flexible measuring tape around the base (the lower sections) of your dog’s neck whilst leaving enough room to fit two fingers in between. A lot of collars are adjustable, which is ideal for a puppy as you can simply extend the collar as they grow into it.
