Love, Love, Love this dog collar! Thank you for making wider dog collars that fit small dogs! I have a Yorkie X Bichon Frise (called Daisy) who is really fluffy, and when she has a ‘normal’ collar on- you can’t see it. As a result, putting her on the lead is really quite difficult- especially as a wheelchair user. When I came across this collar, what really caught my attention, was the ‘emergency grab handle’- this has made my life so much easier. Daisy is a Pets as Therapy dog and is well trained, but, having the grab handle gives me more comfort, that if an emergency were to arise, I can quickly recall her to the side of my chair, grab the handle and leash her or lift her onto my knee. Not only are the collars well designed- they are excellent quality, and it won’t be long before Daisy has a wide selection of them! Just as a wee side note- the combat collars are quite heavy in comparison to ‘normal’ collars, but this doesn’t seem to have bothered Daisy. I would have picked a ‘Light Combat Collar’ but I wasn’t keen on the colours. It would be great to see some of the bright colours (purple, pink, blue etc) in the lighter weight option (if possible please?!) I do appreciate and understand that these collars were primarily designed for ‘Bully Breeds’, hence the excellent quality, strong clip and the weight, but the overall design makes it great for any breed, and, I think expanding the range would benefit many pups and their owners!

We initially bought the thicker collar but it was too heavy for Bonnie's relatively slender neck. Love the grab handle - really helpful. However, I do worry sometimes it may get caught if she goes tearing off through the undergrowth as she likes to do. Because of this we often use a different collar if we are going on a walk where she is likely to do that. The quality is absolutely excellent. On a slightly strange note I will mention that I'm not a big fan of pink, but Bonnie is!!! Pretty much all her favourite toys are pink! If it was up to me I would probably have bought a black collar but Bonnie disagreed! :-)

FAQs

What is the best dog collar?

The best dog collar really depends on the breed, size and activity level of your dog. Slip-on collars are great to assist training your dog that pulls, whereas a Combat collar is perfect for everyday use and comes in various thicknesses, from 2.5cm for smaller breeds to 5cm for XL breeds. How tight should a dog collar be?

Similar to harnesses, a dog collar should be snug but not too tight. We’d recommend being able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck - if you can fit more than two fingers, the collar may be too loose and could slip off. If you can’t fit two fingers, it might be too tight for your dog causing discomfort and potentially breathing difficulties.

Do dogs have to wear collars?

It’s a legal requirement for dogs to wear collars with ID tags when in public. The tag needs to display your name and address to help reunite you and your dog if they ever get lost. We know that a lot of owners prefer using harnesses, but a collar and ID tag are essential to comply with UK law when you’re out in public, so make sure you’ve got both on if needs be.

How do you measure a dog collar?

To measure a dog collar, wrap a flexible measuring tape around the base (the lower sections) of your dog’s neck whilst leaving enough room to fit two fingers in between. A lot of collars are adjustable, which is ideal for a puppy as you can simply extend the collar as they grow into it.
