The neck measurement should be taken around the lower part of your dog’s neck, simply measure the widest part at the base of the neck as this is where the collar is going to sit. This size chart is based on min-max measurements.

This is a very nice collar, it is lightweight I thought the metal parts were going to be heavy which they are not as my pup hates anything heavy around his neck, the only thing I’m not keen on is the handle. I really hope BB will make collars without handles in the orange colour as would love one to match his harness.

I have bought the 4cm collar awhile ago and the matching harness to help with training. Training went well so we were able to go for a smaller width now Amber is behaving better on the lead. Thanks has to go to Bullybillows for the well thought out collars and anti pull harness, it helped an awful lot. Plus they are gorgeous to look at and my dogs doesn’t seem to have any complaints.

I was so pleased with this collar. It’s my exact colors, it has amazing construction and I was able to attach my fi tracker to it. The sizing was perfect for my 4 month old puppy. What is the best dog collar?

The best dog collar really depends on the breed, size and activity level of your dog. Slip-on collars are great to assist training your dog that pulls, whereas a Combat collar is perfect for everyday use and comes in various thicknesses, from 2.5cm for smaller breeds to 5cm for XL breeds. Our pin buckle collars are also a great choice among medium to XL dog owners, and the Billowthane collar range is 100% waterproof, ideal for pooches who love water! How tight should a dog collar be?

Similar to harnesses, a dog collar should be snug but not too tight. We’d recommend being able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck - if you can fit more than two fingers, the collar may be too loose and could slip off. If you can’t fit two fingers, it might be too tight for your dog causing discomfort and potentially breathing difficulties.

Do dogs have to wear collars?

It’s a legal requirement for dogs to wear collars with ID tags when in public. The tag needs to display your name and address to help reunite you and your dog if they ever get lost. We know that a lot of owners prefer using harnesses, but a collar and ID tag are essential to comply with UK law when you’re out in public, so make sure you’ve got both on if needs be.

How do you measure a dog collar?

To measure a dog collar, wrap a flexible measuring tape around the base (the lower sections) of your dog’s neck whilst leaving enough room to fit two fingers in between. A lot of collars are adjustable, which is ideal for a puppy as you can simply extend the collar as they grow into it.
