The neck measurement should be taken around the lower part of your dog’s neck, simply measure the widest part at the base of the neck as this is where the collar is going to sit. This size chart is based on min-max measurements.

This 2.5cm width is suitable for puppies, small and growing breeds upwards to medium breeds such as Poodle, Frenchies, Bulldogs, Terries and Staffies.

Honestly the best fitting collar we have found, worth every penny! We have a rescue podenco who has managed to escape a collar on a walk. To ensure it didn’t happen again I spent hours looking for the best collar and I found it. He’s a medium size dog but with a long neck so basic collars don’t work. Really love the collar! I have the matching harness/lead and they all look super smart together. The collar is great quality and the personalisation if fab too! The only downside is there is only one D-ring. I have a metallic tag for my pet with contact details, and when I have the chunky combat lead clipped on, the two constantly clang making walks very annoying, hence 4 stars instead of 5! Would be great if there was an extra ring to attach tags to, to avoid this! probably not an issue if you don’t get overstimulated like me, but it’s super annoying and must be the same for my dog with it being so close to her ears! Other than that lovely collar!

Great product as I’ve come to expect from BB’s. The grab handle is really useful when you need quick control. The quality of the metal components are very good including the D ring which I have found can be a bit suspect on other collars I’ve used in the past (non Bully Billows). The combat buckle can be a bit tricky to release when the dog is moving about or if you have fat fingers. Not as easy as the wider collars but I can’t really criticise this as you don’t want it to open by accident either. I would absolutely recommend. Would be great to see the 4cm collars in smaller sizes.

Love the maroon colour, and the size is great for our boy's thick neck. It seems sturdy, but we attach the leash to his harness rather than the collar, so haven't tested that, but the handle is very useful! The black hardware started scuffing after a few weeks, so maybe the silver would have been a better choice. But I bought this collar on sale and it doesn't bother us, so I'm happy with the purchase!

Love both the leads and the collars. The leads are comfortable to hold, strong and most importantly a secure, unique catch to prevent unfastening in play or movement. Available in a selection of bright colours. The collars also have a secure locking system too. I’ve replaced several other brands and so far I’m very happy with the BullyBillows leads and collars.

Nice collar in all honesty, it would have got 5 stars but a small bit of stitching on the collars handle was not stitched properly, it's the double stitch part that keeps the handle curled over (on one side) it looks like it should hold so have just kept it without a return, small issue if it stays held.

What is the best dog collar?

The best dog collar really depends on the breed, size and activity level of your dog. Slip-on collars are great to assist training your dog that pulls, whereas a Combat collar is perfect for everyday use and comes in various thicknesses, from 2.5cm for smaller breeds to 5cm for XL breeds. How tight should a dog collar be?

Similar to harnesses, a dog collar should be snug but not too tight. We’d recommend being able to fit two fingers between the collar and your dog’s neck - if you can fit more than two fingers, the collar may be too loose and could slip off. If you can’t fit two fingers, it might be too tight for your dog causing discomfort and potentially breathing difficulties.

Do dogs have to wear collars?

It’s a legal requirement for dogs to wear collars with ID tags when in public. The tag needs to display your name and address to help reunite you and your dog if they ever get lost. We know that a lot of owners prefer using harnesses, but a collar and ID tag are essential to comply with UK law when you’re out in public, so make sure you’ve got both on if needs be.

How do you measure a dog collar?

To measure a dog collar, wrap a flexible measuring tape around the base (the lower sections) of your dog’s neck whilst leaving enough room to fit two fingers in between. A lot of collars are adjustable, which is ideal for a puppy as you can simply extend the collar as they grow into it.
