The chest measurement of your dog, or the girth, is the first measurement you’ll need to take. This can be taken by placing the measuring tape around the widest part of your dog’s torso, usually just behind the front legs.
The next measurement should be taken around the lower part of your dog’s neck, simply measure the widest part at the base of the neck as this is where the harness is going to sit. This size chart is based on min-max measurements.

Absolutely obsessed with this harness 😍 it’s so well made and my pooch looks super handsome in it. Will definately order again for our next purchase which I think will be a collar🥰
95 lb, 6yr old, female Shiloh Shepherd. Fits great. No adjustments needed. Used right out of the package. Very well made. Glad I found this harness. Arrived on time. No issues with international shipping. Thank you...from Stacey in Michigan.
I love this harness! It's a game changer for us, having a XL bully, hes is strong, he never intentionality pulled us, but did a bit, also was all over the place whilst walking, from side to side, but now, its a completely different story, he walks right beside us, having the loop on the chest give you so much more control, I really wish I got this sooner.🤎
We needed a robust and comfortable harness for our very strong, 10 month old staffie x. This suits him perfectly, it fits really well and looks so smart. The colour is perfect for keeping an eye on him as he plays around in the woods. Would highly recommend this harness.
Venus is a puller, I've tried various things over the years ,choker chain, different harness , face halti she wears at the moment ( I've tried this harness with and without the face halti , walks great either way ) she is so much better with this harness its absolutely fab , its lovely to go walking with out having my arms pulled out the socket , or constantly pulling her back , we are 3 days in with the new harness , i bought the size D , reading the size guide she was inbetween a C and D so sized up for the D ..thankyou its a game changer ....going to buy another for our other german shepherd
Harness was really well made, but had to send back as it was to large around the neck strap, the belly strap was fine but when walking with lead attached to front ring it would pull around to the side as couldn’t be tightened any more.
I have purchased the next size down which is better around the neck but the belly strap is as large as it will go so no room for any growth.
My boy is Cane Corso and just turn 1yo and it was hard to find a big enough harness for him until you guys! I bought the biggest size E.
Fits perfectly and has got a lot of extra as he will still grown into it.
Glad I've found you!
It fits Zeus really well, it’s comfortable for him, keeps him secure on his walks. I like having the handle on the back in case he is being reactive and i need to hold him for some reason.
Lightweight but high quality material. I think I may have measured his stomach area wrong but that’s just user error still managed to adjust the straps to fit my boy perfectly so very versatile piece of equipment. Again seems trustworthy and I feel safe putting this on my reactive dog
Harness is a lovely fit, very well made. The 1.4m combat lead I paired with it looks and pairs lovely.
I’ll only use bullybillows for harnesses and leads…quality is unrivalled
This product protected my dogs life last week when attacked by another dog. The integrity of the harness prevented the aggressor from biting through deeper into his chest than it would have achieved had the harness not been such high quality. I had the original harness for almost 3 years, with daily use, only repurchasing due to damage caused in the attack. It’s practical for its intended use, secure and looks ace! Cannot recommend highly enough!
Great harness for my very strong dog! The size guide was very helpful and confirmed my sizing choice. My dog seems very happy wearing the harness, it doesn't seem to hinder him in any way when he's tearing about around the field. The only slight thing was trying to adjust the straps, they were SO fiddly and difficult to do - although I do understand that they need to be secure.
Brilliant harness, does the job without rubbing. Great customer service, had to return the first one as not much room to grow into and the exchange was super quick and very efficient.
Ruka is 8 months old! This harness is lightweight and fits in all the right places.. with room as he’s still growing! Excellent quality and style *****
I have a 45kg male doberman, the Hurricane Anti-Pull harness is a life saver! I was not able to hold him back with a regular collar if he suddenly lunged for a squirrel or cat - I feel like I have more control with an anti-pull harness.
Kuma is a strong dog. He has always walked well, but with a tendency to pull where he wants he wants to go. I have much more control now, and wish I had bought this harness years ago. Now I need to get the lead.
SIZE D, Lovely harness, fits beautifully and Pablo is much more comfortable, handy having two clips to attach the lead when he gets too excited to see other people. Highly recommend
What a difference this harness has made. I’ve tried so many different ways to reduce my dogs pull on the lead and have finally found a harness that does it! So happy
We have two leads collar and the anti pull harness we can see a very quick difference in Hugo’s pulling he’s not pulling anymore with the anti pull harness he loves it as well Hugo is only a one year old KC registered Staffordshire bull terrier blue and brindle colour that’s why he’s all kitted out with black
My Rottweiler puppy Cash loves his new harness its comfortable and I know he's secure when on walks and it has the handle so I can hold onto him when needed . Its made from strong materials. It's 10/10 from us. Bully Billows superb as always
All 3 of my dogs now have Bullybillow collars, harnesses, and leashes. Love the quality and they look so nice on my Rottweiler, American Bully, and rescue pup! Will only buy Bullybillow products for my pups!
Start by unbuckling the harness and having your dog sit or stand still next to you. Slip the harness over their head and pull the straps underneath their tummy. Or, if you have a step-in harness, place it on the floor and help your dog place their feet correctly, before pulling it up over their back. Fasten it up securely, making sure it’s not too tight or too loose, and adjust accordingly.
What is the best dog harness?
The best dog harness really depends on the breed, size, and activity level of your dog. The comfortable Hurricane Harness features a useful handle and is super lightweight, while the Premium Harness is a great all-rounder for any dog. The traditional slip-on harnesses offer quick and easy fitting, while step-in harnesses might be better for dogs that dislike harnesses going over their head. And if your dog pulls, the TRI-Harness helps with training to prevent excessive pulling on the lead. You can read more in our Dog Harness Buying Guide. All of our harnesses are lined with Neoprene which is soft and helps avoid harsh burns unlike other brands.
How to measure a harness for a dog
To measure your dog for a harness, grab a measuring tape and wrap it around the widest part of their ribcage, then measure their neck at the base (where the collar sits and not in the middle of the neck). Make sure that the measurements aren’t too tight, but are secure enough that the harness won’t slip off if your dog pulls.
If you have the harness already, try it on your dog and make sure you can fit two fingers between the harness and their body. Finally, monitor your dog’s behaviour - if they’re showing signs of discomfort or walking awkwardly, it may need adjusting more to suit your dog.
How to use a dog harness correctly
To ensure you’re using your dog harness correctly, you need to make sure it’s properly fitted. This means that it’s tight enough to prevent the harness moving, but loose enough to allow your pooch to move comfortably. Attach your lead to your chosen D-ring, whether that’s on their back or their chest, and get ready for your adventure!
