The chest measurement of your dog, or the girth, is the first measurement you’ll need to take. This can be taken by placing the measuring tape around the widest part of your dog’s torso, usually just behind the front legs.
The next measurement should be taken around the lower part of your dog’s neck, simply measure the widest part at the base of the neck as this is where the harness is going to sit. This size chart is based on min-max measurements.

Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 4.9 / 5 from 107 reviews.
Something went wrong with my order and i received/ paid for a harness way too small. This one I needed an E for my dog but I sent me a C.
This is useless to me and it will cost more to return.
Love the colour, something a bit different and so vibrant! Absolutely quality made products, the stitching, padding and overall shape and fit are second to none. Appear comfortable and free moving for my dog and easily adjustable when wearing her fleece in wet weather. Lightweight, drys easily between wetter walks.
The Air Harness is superb and gives you complete confidence that your puppy is safe when venturing out and about. The A size is absolutely perfect for our 14-week old Jack Russel Terrier pup (36cm chest size) and the adjustable straps mean it can grow with him. We paired it with the Snap Hook Clasp Lead and they are a great combination. The swivel handle saves a huge amount of faffing around when out on walks. All in all we are delighted with the look, feel and quality and we think puppy secretly loves his Air Harness too!
Great quality harness. Nice and light and fits perfectly once adjusted to size.
Easy to put on and off due to its light and soft material. Colour is also nice with Coco’s colouring
Fast delivery. Accurate sizing. Love the colour and extremely well made. Bought this on recommendation as she could slip her last harness. Shes definitely not getting out of this one. Really pleased with my purchase.
Bought our dog one of these in pink and when we got another dog Bought her the purple one so they match. They harnesses look fab and are very secure. They are not slipping out of these. Love them
Took some time to get the right fit, as we all know staffies come in all shapes and and sizes 😂 but we got there in the end and Lucie loves it! So light weight and non restrictive with a padded area! Will be getting her next one in pink to match her other lead! Highly recommend these harnesses so easy to pop over the head and fasten! We previously used K9 but these are so much better and sure they will wash and dry more quickly than the K9's too ❤️
This is the best harness ever. We got a size B, for min pin. My dog is very happy with it and feels comfortable. Very happy to have been able to buy at a good discount. Really want leashes for small breed dogs from 2 meters and up
The best harness I have found full stop, extremely light with minimal size and contact to my dog, as with all Bulliebillows products it feels super strong and very reassuring for a big strong dog.
amazing harness... lightweight however very sturdy and secure
nice chest clip for added control, and a solid handle on top
very durable and will be fine in the rain and snow... my pup is a 15kg 8-month Staffie
Moobags used to engage 4 paw drive with diff lockers and low ratio and. Drag me everywhere, I’m not a small bloke and now with this harness in conjunction with the lead she now walks nicely.
Love the purple harness. It matches her collar perfectly.... her trainer advised to get a harness with a D ring on the chest as well as the back. Love the style and the material is strong and very snazzy! I wear a lot of purple and when we go for walks we get lots of complimentary comments! Thank you! 💜
Our bulldog Bonnie loves her new harness & lead, top quality & very comfortable for her as its very well padded & strong, I would recommend this harness & lead 100%
A very easy and helpful site, especially with the sizing. We were looking for something with more movement and good for sensitive skin, as her last harness kept rubbing her fur and irritating her skin! This is a fantastic alternative, we are so pleased, she can move freely and her fur and skin looks loads better!
Start by unbuckling the harness and having your dog sit or stand still next to you. Slip the harness over their head and pull the straps underneath their tummy. Or, if you have a step-in harness, place it on the floor and help your dog place their feet correctly, before pulling it up over their back. Fasten it up securely, making sure it’s not too tight or too loose, and adjust accordingly.
What is the best dog harness?
The best dog harness really depends on the breed, size, and activity level of your dog. The comfortable Hurricane Harness features a useful handle and is super lightweight, while the Premium Harness is a great all-rounder for any dog. The traditional slip-on harnesses offer quick and easy fitting, while step-in harnesses might be better for dogs that dislike harnesses going over their head. And if your dog pulls, the TRI-Harness helps with training to prevent excessive pulling on the lead. You can read more in our Dog Harness Buying Guide. All of our harnesses are lined with Neoprene which is soft and helps avoid harsh burns unlike other brands.
How to measure a harness for a dog
To measure your dog for a harness, grab a measuring tape and wrap it around the widest part of their ribcage, then measure their neck at the base (where the collar sits and not in the middle of the neck). Make sure that the measurements aren’t too tight, but are secure enough that the harness won’t slip off if your dog pulls.
If you have the harness already, try it on your dog and make sure you can fit two fingers between the harness and their body. Finally, monitor your dog’s behaviour - if they’re showing signs of discomfort or walking awkwardly, it may need adjusting more to suit your dog.
How to use a dog harness correctly
To ensure you’re using your dog harness correctly, you need to make sure it’s properly fitted. This means that it’s tight enough to prevent the harness moving, but loose enough to allow your pooch to move comfortably. Attach your lead to your chosen D-ring, whether that’s on their back or their chest, and get ready for your adventure!
