Place Food Out of Their Reach
Pups can figure out where all the goodies are stored in no time. Keep food out of their reach, especially human foods, as they are notoriously poisonous for dogs. Even dog food should be placed out of reach to avoid overeating, mess, and ingestion that you can’t supervise.
Always ensure that you have kept toxic foods like chocolates, avocados, grapes, raisins, garlic, onion, and coffee away from your pup’s reach.

Some hazardous items like cleansers, detergents, sodas, vinegar, fabric softeners, bleach, medications, and toothpaste react dangerously if swallowed by your pup.
They can also chew or swallow towels, socks, or other stray clothes. It can cause severe gastrointestinal issues.

Block the Way to Stairs
Always gate the stairs. If your pup falls from a height through the stairs, they may get seriously injured. Make sure all the ways to stairs are closed and blocked off with a pet gate.

Keep Swallow-Worthy Items Away
Items such as batteries, buttons, coins, clips, earrings, and rubber bands must be kept out of your pup’s reach. They can cause problems if chewed or swallowed. If you have craft items and sharp objects such as needles and crayons, do not leave them open or drop them on the floor. Also, keep plastic bags and plastic wraps away as they can cause suffocation.
Keep the Backyard Safe
Fence your yard and pool areas properly. Ensure there are no small gaps or weak spots from where your pup can crawl themselves out. Avoid the growth of poisonous plants like mushrooms and fungus there.
